Beating the Business Blues
What happens when we get to a point in our business that no matter what we attempt, nothing seems to move the business forward into that profitable position that we set all our goals around achieving?
Chandra A. McDonald
Our goals seem reasonable, other companies have gotten there, so what are we doing wrong? The truth is, it is seldom a case of right or wrong but the way in which you, at your very core, most successfully operate to achieve success vs. how others achieve it.
When we get hung up in the business blues we do one of three things.
1. Freeze and start downsizing in any and all ways possible.
2. Forge forward based on what has always worked in the past, exhausting all resources and hoping like crazy that the drought breaks before our pot of gold runs dry.
3. Seek new, innovative ways to approach the successful outcome of our business goals and even set new goals. In this, we open to new opportunities and limitless potential.
Most business models look and feel the same in certain industries between competing companies but very few are. It’s easy to see that when a child is born a parent’s goal is to offer them a foundation for a successful life and ultimately for them to experience great successes of their own. It is soon realized from one child to the next, even in the very same family, that the parents and child go about achieving all of this in extremely different ways. This is how unique each and every business truly is. The core of each and every company is a different child. What usually scares people away from opportunities to innovatively expand and try new ways of achieving success is the fear of having no benchmark of another to base their successful outcome on. The irony in this is that another’s road to success was never meant to be theirs and their innovative ideas are to be trusted as that which is connected to the core of their personal road map. A leap of faith, if you will. One of trusting oneself, self-reliance, confidence in a new approach and the willingness to see it through. The funny thing is their innovative approach will be much easier to follow and achieve than another is because they have unconsciously designed it tailored to their unique style. And the new mantra in life becomes ‘if it flows easily for me, continue to do it; if it’s too hard, it’s not meant for me to do, thus there is a better way for me and only I know what it truly is.’ Ultimately we have all been dealt the same hand of limitless opportunities. We have limitless growth potential, limitless minds and creative juices that flow endlessly. All of this at our fingertips should we choose to use it and every one of us has, at one point in life or another, experienced this. The choice to tap into an existence of this limitlessness is exclusively yours.
Not one of us can deny that we came into this life with nothing, except hopefully some wisdom and knowledge and will leave with nothing other than a greater level of wisdom and knowledge gained in our lifetime. At best, we have about one hundred years to live. So here’s the good news, there is nothing in between the moment we arrive and the moment we leave but opportunity. Everything beyond the natural, instinctive and effortless wisdom and knowledge we gain is limitless unless we choose to cap it. These are such things as material wealth, family, friends, health and the success of our business, to name a few, and are based exactly on the opportunities that we allow ourselves to expand with.
So far in life we have moved forward most swiftly when we’ve felt passionately connected to an opportunity. Since passion is emotion without reason. In its presence, we move forward with a distinctive knowing that stopping to ask for directions is a complete waste of time, never mind that what others think of what you are doing means close to nothing to you. We look back and think we achieved all this with our heads down and hard work. When in fact we have been truly achieving our most sought after desires in a very awakened state of consciousness for no other than the highest good of all. No doubt this would be a big part of why most of the greatest inventors of all time are flagged and labelled as clinically insane. Simply because their ability to move beyond all that is logical was widely misunderstood and lead to a lonely existence of untamed thought patterns. On a more personal and positive note, this is not the case in society anymore. The more outside the box we are in our thinking the bigger and better the results and society logically understands this today. In our current state of human evolution, discussed in detail in preceding articles in this magazine, we are experiencing an increase in our freedom to be outwardly adventurous with our limitlessness.
For your business to succeed beyond all of the market doom and gloom surrounding you, you have to make a choice; to participate or not to participate? Remember that whenever you throw your thoughts, feelings and beliefs into a pot of boiling water, you are sure to jump in after them. So before you choose to connect to mass conciseness and “the way things are for everyone and that includes you and your business” ask yourself, is this something I want to jump into and become a participating, productive member of? Everywhere I speak or train corporately I am always asked, “So what are your thoughts on the current recession?” my immediate response is almost always, “Oh are you participating in that?” Their response, coupled with a relaxed smile is “good point”. Although I may share a few thoughts on our economy’s natural state of expansion and contraction, as I have recently shared with Convenience and Carwash Canada’s readers. Really nothing more needs to be said. Once a person shifts their focus, time & energy away from the self defeating trends surrounding them all that’s left to see is opportunity. The only challenge in your path under the influence of the ‘business blue’s’, is to positively seek and consciously choose that which far exceeds what you have ever known before. Don’t fall prey to the fears of the ‘doom in gloom’, create your own outcomes and keep moving forward.
