Owen Sound, ON – McDougall Energy Inc. (McDougall Energy) and Imperial Oil’s Esso Community Program have donated $5,000 towards the Owen Sound Professional Fire Fighters Toy Drive. The donation will go towards purchasing toys for children ages 16 and under in the Owen Sound area.

“Thanks to community leaders like Owen Sound Professional Fire Fighters and the Salvation Army, families can celebrate the holidays with peace of mind, knowing they’ll have gifts under the tree Christmas morning. This has been a very challenging year due to COVID-19, and we want to help brighten up the holidays for children and their families in the Owen Sound area,” said Darren McDougall, president, McDougall Energy. “McDougall Energy is built on the support of the people we serve, and we are committed to giving back to our communities through our Community Investment Program.”

The annual toy drive is coordinated by the Owen Sound Professional Fire Fighters Association with donations made to the Owen Sound Salvation Army. New, unwrapped toys for children and youth birth to 16 years can be dropped off at various locations in Owen Sound, and monetary donations are accepted. Once toy boxes have been put together, they are given to families with time to prepare for Christmas.

“On behalf of the Owen Sound Professional Fire Fighters and the Salvation Army who help collect toys for children in the community, thank you to McDougall Energy for this very generous donation. We are grateful for the community support we have received during a time that has been extra challenging for many families. We want to make sure that everyone wakes up Christmas morning with excitement,” said Greg Nicol, Owen Sound Professional Fire Fighters Association.

This year’s Christmas toy drive is expected to help more families than past years, due to the increased need brought on by COVID-19.
