smoodi Closes $5 Million in Series A Funding to Make Healthy Smoothies Accessible to Everyone

Recognized as the first ‘Healthy Smoothie Store in a Box,’ smoodi uses robotics to empower healthy habits with its blender that allows convenience stores, offices, restaurants, and other retailers to offer 100 per cent natural, vegan smoothies with no sugar added and no operator required.

BOSTON – smoodi, a food tech company that is the creator of the world’s first robotic smart blender, is on a mission to make smoothies healthy again. Launched out of Harvard’s Innovation Lab, smoodi today announced the closing of $5 million Series A funding that will allow the company to scale nationwide. Their automated, self-serve blender can be found in the most unexpected of places – convenience stores.

“At smoodi, we believe in a world where you don’t have to choose between convenience and well- being,” said Pascal Kriesche, CEO of smoodi. “Our products are made with real fruit with no sugar added which are blended right in front of the consumer for a completely transparent experience. Convenience stores are the perfect place for smoodi because historically, it’s a place where healthy and delicious food could not be found. We have a tremendous opportunity to redefine what smoothie means in this space and help consumers to make healthy choices.”

Already in many of the top convenience store chains in the country, smoodi will use its Series A funding to satisfy the growing demand for their products and open national distribution channels as well as new market verticals. The company has also recently announced their partnership with Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistribution company in North America.

“Dot Foods is excited about our partnership with smoodi – they have developed an innovative and fun new product offering that provides a great growth opportunity to our mutual customer base! We can’t wait to get started selling their smoodis,” raved Dot Foods Director of Business Development, Park Plank. The partnership is key to making healthy smoothies accessible to everyone. smoodi can now be found in every corner of the country while offering extreme flexibility to associated partners in the form of short lead times and minimum order quantities.

Along with its proprietary platform that blends and cleans by itself, smoodi allows retailers to purchase prepared flavors of cups with fresh, real fruit that has been flash frozen at peak ripeness. The model and technology allow any retailer or office to incorporate smoodi as there is no labor required and zero food waste associated with the program. Fresh off a recent round of financing with an exciting product and open distribution channels, the future for smoodi looks, well, fruitful.
