Help customers light it up this summer with must-have firework displays

By Tania Moffat

As we enter the new year, and hopefully, begin to feel temperatures rise, we can’t help but look toward the start of summer. The promise of the season is what gets many of us through the cold winter months, and nothing says Canadian summer like trips to the lake, campfires and fireworks.

You’ve got the fuel to get your customers to the beach and maybe even campfire bundles to keep them warm, but do you have fireworks to help blast off their festivities?

People love a good firework display for, well basically any reason – long weekends, holidays, and family celebrations like birthdays and weddings. This year, Manitobans have an increased incentive to party with a bank as they celebrate the province’s 150th birthday.

Start the season with a bang

Blast-off Fireworks has focused most of its company’s efforts on releasing new products in two categories for 2020 – finale cakes and family packs. “Consumers have indicated a clear preference for items in these categories,” says company president Matt Bialek.

Family packs are preferred for their convenience. Everything that customers need is on or in the box, from top-quality fireworks to ignition tools and professional firing instructions. Consumers love finale cakes for their displays and ease of use. One single ignition lights up a massive display of colours, sounds and spectacular effects. Finale cakes can be purchased with impressive run times as well (over 65 seconds). Both kits can be recommended to new and experienced customers alike.

Blast-off Fireworks, located in Selkirk, Manitoba, is a second-generation, family-run company and Western Canada’s largest fireworks importer and distributor. Their 20-acre distribution campus contains over 500 products, many of which are proprietary line products.

“People expect fireworks to be a part of the product mix in the c-store channel, which enables them to capitalize on consumer demands,” adds Bialek. The category has an added advantage of being extremely profitable, often offering 100 per cent or more on returns. Retailers needn’t worry about sell-through; most products have long shelf lives (five to seven years), and companies like Blast-off offer guaranteed sales, extended payment terms, and pre-paid delivery.

Taking advantage of this quick and easy boost to your store’s bottom line doesn’t need to be a scary one. Retailers and consumers can rely on Blast-off’s Product Scorecard – an objective rating of product attributes including duration, noise, and tempo. This provides customers with the ability to make an informed purchase. Companies may rent display racks such as bins, counter-top and self-standing units to display pre-priced products. What are you waiting for? Make this summer a blast!
